Why Teach This Way

You will note that in Middle Elementary there is a shift in the teaching method to allow interactive learning to take place. In younger classes, the teacher tells a Bible story while the students listen, then the teacher leads them in follow-up activities to help them remember and apply the truths they learned. However, in Middle Elementary the teaching style changes from telling a story or teaching a truth to interactive discovery by the students. The teacher becomes a facilitator and instructor, enabling students to actively find out Bible truths on their own, learning Bible study skills as they read from the Scriptures. The Holy Spirit works in their hearts and minds as they discover what God’s Word says.
