Importance of Music

As time permits, continue to teach great hymns of the faith from Trinity Hymnal (ordered separately). It will enrich class time as students sing or simply listen to recordings. The suggested hymns listed here emphasize biblical truths students are learning in the Gospels:

  • “Were You There?” #260 (not on CD)
  • “Up from the Grave He Arose” #276 (not on CD)
  • “Man of Sorrows! What a Name” #246 (not on CD)
  • “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today” #277
  • “I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say” #304
  • “I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord” #353

Beautiful and simple piano arrangements are found on Listen While We Sing, a 4-CD set of 88 instrumental hymns played by Susan Beisner on the piano. Each hymn arrangement has an introduction and the same number of stanzas as found in Trinity Hymnal. Use the recordings to accompany class singing or simply have students listen to the arrangements as they work.
