Romans - Revelation
“Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.” As the final book of the New Testament closes, we again hear the echo of the covenantal promise of God—seen in the new heavens and new earth, when Jesus returns and ushers in the full blessings of the covenant of grace. What a glorious picture of the future of all God’s people from every time, tribe, and tongue!
That day is guaranteed to arrive, but what about now? We are living in the in-between times. Salvation through Jesus has come, yet we have not fully experienced the blessings of the New Covenant. We’ve been delivered from the power of sin but still struggle with daily temptations and failures. So how do we walk in the light of the New Covenant? In 13 lessons, your students will learn from the letters of the first generation of New Covenant people what new life in Christ looks like.
In G2R God’s Promises, your students have traced the unfolding of God’s amazing promises. They discovered that when Adam and Eve hid in shame, God promised a Savior who would defeat Satan and sin, restoring his people to himself. They learned that God made covenants with Noah, Abraham, Moses, and David, revealing more of his redemptive plan. They saw how terribly God’s people failed to keep the covenant—pointing forward to the Promised One who would perfectly obey.
They heard from Matthew and Luke, men who saw for themselves that the humble son of a carpenter is the Savior of the world. They explored how the Church is Jesus’ continuing ministry. And now they will grasp that believers are God’s adopted children, fellow heirs with Jesus, and full of the life-giving Spirit—anticipating that great day when Jesus returns and makes all things new.
