Jesus is God

During this quarterchildren will discover that Jesus’ many miracles were signs that point to him as God the Son, our Savior. They will find out about his power, learn about his glory, and be taught about his authority. As they hear stories about Jesus and what he did, young students will begin to grasp that it was God who came to help his people in Jesus.

In Unit 1 you will teach the children that God’s Son has power over creation. They will learn that Jesus used his power to change water to wine, calm the storm, and feed a crowd of hungry people. Jesus showed God’s greatness and loving care, and many put their trust in him.

In Unit 2 children will discover that in his miracles of healing, God’s Son showed his power over sickness. Children learn only God can make sick people well. Jesus showed God’s power over Satan and sin when he healed a lame man, a crippled woman, a sick servant, and many others. Just as many of the sick called on him in faith, Jesus wants us to put our trust in him. He is the One who has the power to forgive our sins and meet our needs.

Unit 3 highlights the miracles that show God’s Son has power over death. Children learn that Jesus revealed his power as Lord of life when he raised a widow’s son, gave life to Jairus’ daughter, and brought Lazarus back from the grave. However, it was in his own death and resurrection that Jesus revealed that he is able to save his people from sin and death. In the final lesson of the quarter, children celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and are encouraged to believe and tell that Jesus is our living Savior.

May the prayer of each heart be, “I believe that Jesus is God the Son. Thank you, Jesus, for winning over sin and death for me. Help me to trust and love you.”
