Jesus is God's Son

During this quarterchildren will learn that God’s promise to send a Savior, made so long ago to Adam and Eve, was fulfilled in Jesus, the Son of God.

Unit 1 explores the birth of Jesus. In the first three lessons children learn that God sent John to get people ready for the promised Savior. Then an angel announced to Mary that the baby she would bear would be Jesus, God’s own Son, the promised Savior. Preschoolers learn that although Jesus was born as a tiny baby, he would grow up to save God’s people from their sins.

Unit 2 presents evidence that Jesus is God’s Son. Learners discover that Simeon lived to see the infant Christ, the promised Savior. The wise men were led by God to worship King Jesus. And even at 12 years of age, Jesus himself recognized he was God’s own Son. Then when John baptized Jesus, the Holy Spirit confirmed that Jesus, the Son of God, was the promised Messiah.

Unit 3 emphasizes that God’s Son is the promised Savior. When Jesus began his preaching ministry, he announced that he himself was the promised Savior. He revealed his authority and power to his disciples, whom he called to follow him. Jesus empowered the 12 to go out and preach the kingdom. Revealed to him by God, Peter confessed that Jesus is “the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:16) In the final lesson of the quarter, Jesus showed his glory to Peter, James, and John, and God the Father spoke from heaven, declaring, “This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him.” (Luke 9:35)

With God’s blessing, may your preschoolers learn that Jesus is truly God’s Son, their living Savior. May they learn to listen to his voice through the Word of God, and may they grow to trust and obey him.
