Listening to Jesus

The Winter 1 quarter is entitled Listening to Jesus.

The first unit focuses on Jesus our Teacher. He is God’s Son who has always existed in heaven with God his Father. He is the promised Savior who came to save us from our sins, and he is the chosen King whom we worship.

In the second unit, students discover more about Jesus and what he teaches about himself. They learn that he is God. They learn that he is powerful, his words are true and that he wants us to follow his example of humble and loving service. Students find out that Jesus forgives our sin and enables us to respond to him in faith and obedience.

The third unit emphasizes that Jesus teaches his people about their heavenly Father. Students come to know that they can go to God for forgiveness of sins. He gives them everything they need to be accepted into his kingdom because of his mercy and grace to those he has called to belong to him.

In the fourth unit, students learn that Jesus teaches us about ourselves. Students are encouraged to acknowledge their sinfulness and recognize that only Jesus can save them. They are challenged to put Jesus and his kingdom first in their lives.
